New Alumina Aerogel
Alumina aerogel is a newly developed material, similar in characteristics to silica aerogel. Its appearance is an optical translucent solid with a nanocrystalline structure. Alumina aerogel is available as monolithic solids shapes, granules, and in powder form.
Standard material is prepared with a density of 0.04 g/cm3 and is stable up to about 900° C. Preliminary tests indicate this material has a thermal conductivity of just 0.03 W/m°K.
